Kicking it Off

As we premier the new 2010 Southern Fried Football™ website, radio show and the Tour schedule, there is a lot to talk about since the end of last season.

Thank goodness the season has arrived. I'm really looking forward to our 13th year on the Southern Fried Football™ Tour. It's hard to believe that we've been doing this for thirteen years, but when you're having fun tailgating, interacting with fans and watching the best college football in the country, it goes by in a flash.

I have some new elements for the Tour, website and the radio show this season. I will explain all of that to you momentarily. Of course, none of this would be possible without the great support of the terrific sponsors that are involved with Southern Fried Football™. This season, when you are choosing how to spend your dollars wisely, be sure to keep these folks in mind:

AAA of the Carolinas
Budweiser
Tom's Snacks
Eckrich Meats
Bojangles'
Champion Athletic Wear
Tom Johnson Camping Center
Vomela/Motorsports Designs
House-Autry
Kangaroo Express

Thanks to all of these great sponsors, for being a part of the 2010 Southern Fried Football™ Tour.

The Tour schedule is always a source of debate. There are so many great games and venues, but only so many weeks in the season. It's really impossible to get to all of them. But this year, I wanted to spread the schedule around and see as many teams as possible....plus, I always add a few new teams and venues to the mix. Over the first twelve years, we've been to 116 games and traveled nearly 50,000 miles on the Southern Fried Football™ Tour.

The Tour starts in Salisbury, NC with a match-up of teams from the South Atlantic Conference and the CIAA, and it ends in our backyard with the first ever ACC Championship game in Charlotte.

This season, we're taking 10 trips that will involve 19 different teams. N.C. Central from the MEAC is back on the Tour, along with the University of Tennessee...the Vols haven't been on the Tour since 2003. Furman University is a new stop for us this year, too....and it's long overdue. Plus, you never know when I might decide to add a game along the way.

There is a new team on Southern Fried Football™ Probation....you'll have to scroll down and read all about it. The Southern Fried Football™ Board of Governors has been busy, since the end of last season.

Find out the top six games that almost made the cut this year on the Tour, and the reasons behind those decisions in the "6-Pack" section. Each week there will be a new 6-pack topic and listing, as it pertains to college football in the South.

The Southern Fried Football™ Radio Show airs every Thursday night from 7-8pm, and we have more stations carrying the show this year:

Charlotte, NC (WFNZ 610 AM)
Greenville, NC (WGHB 1250 AM)
Washington, NC (WDLX 930 AM)
Raleigh/Durham, NC (WDNC 620 AM)
Greensboro/Winston-Salem, NC (WSML 1200AM , WMFR 1230 AM, WCOG 1320 AM)

The radio show will have great interviews with the South's best coaches, our buddy Kirk Herbstreit from ESPN/ABC, and of course your phone calls.

We'll have a new feature on the website this year in which you can watch video of each of our Southern Fried Football™ road trips....there are sure to be some classic episodes of our traveling circus from each gameday trip.

The season is almost here, and I'm ready to get started. I look forward to seeing you on the road, talking with you each week on the radio show, and providing some fun and laughs on the website....and oh, yeah....the world famous Babes page, too.
