I can't believe that the 2009 Southern Fried Football™ Tour is over.

It seems like it was just a few weeks ago that we were heading down I-85 towards Atlanta, for the opening game between Virginia Tech and Alabama.

The Southern Fried Football™ Tour flies by....11 games and 11 fun trips.

I enjoyed every single one of them.

I can speak on behalf of the entire staff of Southern Fried Football that we loved seeing everyone on the road this season. From our traditional, annual stops to new ones like Elon University and a return visit to Atlanta.

On behalf of all the great sponsors of Southern Fried Football™, thank you, for your support and patronage. We had a blast providing you, the Southern Fried Football™ fan, all the great products and services each and every week.

I hope you continue to partake with our clients during the off-season, too. Because you know it will be time for the 2010 college football season before long.

Believe it or not, I'm already working on the Tour schedule for next season. I have an idea or two of some new venues for us to visit and experience, and I can't wait to get back to those spots that make college football in the South so much fun.

I would like to thank all the "Southern Fried Guys" that traveled with me during the football season: Kirby, Josh, Martin, Scott, Kevin, Jason and Ty. The staff of Southern Fried Football™ has a great deal of pride and professionalism, every time they hit the road....and they make sure everybody has a great time at the Tourstops.

Thanks need to go out to my webguy, Dave Newman. He does a terrific job laying out the site each week, as well. I also need to thank Tony Digiacomo, who produced the Southern Fried Football™ Show each week on the radio network.

To all the SID's and promotions folks at each school we visit and work with during the season....thank you. It's not easy to coordinate the Tour, the interviews, the promotional material...you name it. But the pros at each school who make it happen for us...believe me; it is appreciated.

The 12th year of the Southern Fried Football™ Tour had a great line-up of sponsors. As I say all the time..."nothing gets done until something gets sold". In this case, it's absolutely true.

A special thanks to:

AAA of the Carolinas
Budweiser
Tom's Snacks
Bojangles'
Vitaminwater
Justin Original Workboots
Champion Athletic Wear
Vomela
Tom Johnson Camping Center
Golden Gait Trailers

It was great working with these sponsors all season long.

Finally, I'd like to thank all the fans that stopped by the Tour and called the radio show this year. You guys have been incredible, in 2009. You are the sole reason that college football in the South and the Southern Fried Football™ Tour are so much fun...it's the reason we can't wait to do it all over again, next year.

Thank you for a great season....and I look forward to seeing you on the road in 2010.

I'm sure the folks at the ACC headquarters and the Tampa ticket office have to be thrilled.

This week, the ACC Championship game takes place for hopefully the last time in Tampa, and both contestants come to town after humiliating losses to their SEC arch-rivals.

Both Clemson and Georgia Tech will live under the hype of the SEC title game, not to mention that both teams are still smarting after being decked by the Cocks and Dawgs, respectively.

I was interested to see their approaches to the "rival game", with a championship game looming a week later. Well, I guess we got the answer.

Neither Clemson nor Georgia Tech looked emotionally ready for an opponent that was ready to play. It's not an excuse, since both South Carolina and Georgia looked like the better-prepared teams in both games.

They were big wins for both Steve Spurrier and Mark Richt, along with their programs. Both coaches were catching heat from their fans for late season swoons and disappointing years, based on expectations. Even with 7-5 records, both Georgia and South Carolina fans will smirk at their in-state rivals as they battle for a BCS bid this weekend in Tampa.

Georgia's defense has been awful all year, but they did a great job getting the Jackets to play from behind.

South Carolina withstood a dash of CJ Spiller to open the game, and then proceeded to dictate the tempo for the
rest of the afternoon with smart play-calling and a defense that looked rejuvenated from a two-week rest.

For the SEC, it was a perfect weekend.

Not only did USC and Georgia pull off the upset surprises, but Florida beat up on another ACC rival in Florida State.

The 37-10 rout was also the end of the Tebow Era at the Swamp.

As we all get ready for the massive showdown between Florida and Bama at the Georgia Dome, I can't help but imagine what awaits in Tampa.

Clemson vs. Georgia Tech.....in prime time.

The good news is that either the Tigers or Yellow Jackets will be taking home some hardware, a BCS bid and an 18-million dollar check, after their Tampa appearance.

Welcome to the big-time.

We scout for the finest talent in the South every week on the Tour, and post it here.
